International Dot Day

What Is International Dot Day?

International Dot Day is a special celebration held every year on or around September 15th. It is inspired by the award-winning children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.

The book tells the story of Vashti, a girl who thinks she cannot draw. Her teacher encourages her to just “make her mark” on paper. Vashti makes a small dot, and with her teacher’s support, she slowly begins to believe in herself. That one little dot opens the door to her creativity and confidence.

International Dot Day began in 2009 when teacher Terry Shay introduced The Dot to his classroom. Since then, millions of people in schools, libraries, and communities across the world have joined the celebration.

What Is Quiver?

Quiver is an augmented reality (AR) app that makes children’s drawings come alive. When kids color a special Quiver page and then scan it with the app, their artwork turns into a moving, interactive 3D image.
